Everybody loves BBQ, and what could be better than being a judge at a BBQ competition featuring the top teams of the Western States.

It's not all fun and games though - it's serious business. Some teams will travel hundreds of miles, spend hundreds of dollars on gas, fuel, meats, and accommodations.

Many teams are professional caterers or restaurantours. However the majority are back-yard cooks with normal day-jobs. No less professional in their approach to the pursuit of fine BBQ though.

Your job as a judge is not easy and not to be taken lightly. Each and every entry deserves a fair score. Personal preference for things like "falling off the bone tender" must be discarded in favor of the scoring criteria provided on site.

This is why we have certified judges - an attempt to normalize scoring criteria. Preference will most likely be given to certified judges. But what the heck, fill out the form, the worst that could happen is a "no".
